The virulent reaction of Pablo Iglesias to the opposition's questions about the scandal of child abuse supervised by the Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs , under the Balearic Government, demonstrates the nervousness of the Vice President of the Government to an issue that undermines the credibility of both her speech like that of the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero . Both, who have announced two laws for the protection of children and the protection of sexual freedoms, two of their main identity battles , have, however, kept an embarrassing silence about a particularly alarming case such as the existence of a network of drug trafficking and prostitution of girls and boys in public centers of the islands. Moreover, and hence the reproaches of Mireia Borrás , of Vox, and Margarita Prohens , of the PP, that together with PSOE and Més, their government partners in the Balearic Islands, United We prevented with their vote that it was created in the Autonomous parliament a commission of inquiry on the subject, implying that they are not interested in clarifying what happened in parliamentary headquarters .

Iglesias has not answered the latter, who seems to have adopted the same style as Ábalos or Grande-Marlaska to ignore the uncomfortable questions of opposition deputies. Moreover, Iglesias has wrapped himself in the banner of a supposed responsibility to call "unworthy" and "disgusting" - even the ever-recurring "fascist", referring to Borràs - who asked for explanations in the control session of the Government, arguing that no one should obtain political revenue when it comes to the defense of children and crimes as execrable as those that occurred.

Iglesias is right on this issue, and perhaps it could be interpreted as an exercise in self-criticism, since the attitude of United We could when they were in the opposition was to patrimonize for the left the defense of women's rights, of gender minorities and of sexual crimes, especially against minors. That is why it is not understood that now that they share government tasks, both national and regional, they refuse an investigation in the Balearic Parliament so that all citizens know what happened and can act against the perpetrators of such abuses. It is true that the Police investigate the facts and a few days ago arrested four men for corruption of minors and crimes against public health and that the Prosecutor's Office has decided to initiate criminal investigation proceedings for drug trafficking and prostitution of minors. But that is why an investigation should not be blocked to clarify the possible political responsibilities of what happened.
