Director Christophe Ruggia was indicted on Thursday for "sexual assaults on minors aged 15" by a person having authority over the victim and was placed under judicial supervision, said the Paris prosecutor's office at 20 minutes, confirming information from BFM TV.

Accused of "touching" the actress Adèle Haenel when she was a teenager, Ruggia was arrested Tuesday morning before being placed in police custody for almost two days. We learned this Thursday morning from the Paris prosecutor's office that he was going to be presented to an investigating judge with a view to possible indictment.

Confrontation Wednesday

A confrontation took place on Wednesday between Adèle Haenel and Christophe Ruggia. During this confrontation, everyone maintained their version, the 55-year-old filmmaker disputing the questioning of which he is the subject, according to an AFP source close to the file.

The Paris public prosecutor's office requested that the latter be placed under judicial control, after opening a judicial investigation for "sexual assaults on minors aged 15 by person having authority over the victim".

The business started in the fall when Adèle Haenel, who won two César awards in 2014 and 2015, accused Mr. Ruggia of Mediapart. The 31-year-old actress, who won two Cesar awards, claims to have been the victim of "touching" and "sexual harassment" from Christophe Ruggia when she was 12 to 15 years old. These acts would have occurred in particular during the shooting of the film Les Diables (2002) directed by M. Ruggia and in which, then aged 13, she played a young autistic girl who constantly ran away to find her parents.

"Recognition of his victim status"

After testifying with Mediapart and initially refusing to take legal action, Adèle Haenel had finally filed a complaint a few days after the opening by the Paris prosecutor's office of an investigation for "sexual assault" on a minor under 15 years old "By person having authority", and "sexual harassment".

Heard by investigators on November 26 and December 2, the actress said in a statement that "public denials" of Christophe Ruggia had "determined to obtain judicial recognition of his status as a victim". Christophe Ruggia, little known to the general public, has defended himself several times in the media, claiming for example to have "made the mistake of playing the pygmalions with the misunderstandings and obstacles that such a posture gives rise to".
