It is reported that North Korea conducted a long-range missile engine test in Dongchang-ri, and the tension on the Korean peninsula is replayed again. Among them, five foreigners, including Sam Hammington, a famous broadcaster in South Korea, are paying attention to the North for five days and six days. Regardless of the cold international situation, they traveled relatively freely around the North Korean tourist destinations and contacted the residents. She wore clothes at the department store, and at the barber shop, she trimmed her hair in the North Korean style.
Their appearances are aired in a documentary film, Sam Hammington's Face North, produced by the SBS Inter-Korean Cooperation Foundation. While foreigners have traveled to North Korea in a short video, they have been introduced to YouTube. However, this is the first time that a group of five foreigners who have lived in Korea for several years and are fluent in Korean have visited North Korea. They spoke in fluent Korean with the fishing people on the banks of the Taedong River and played badminton with Pyongyang citizens. As I looked around Panmunjom, I felt the pain of division, feeling a step away.

The vivid images of the activities of North Korean tourists were enough to attract viewers. In particular, Sam and his friends laughing at North Koreans with friendly gestures and humor from all over the place made them forget about the frozen Korean peninsula. The first episode of 'Welcome to Pyongyang', which aired on the 6th, received viewers' attention with a 6.5% household viewing rate (based on Nielsen Korea Metropolitan Area). For this reason, expectations are high for Part 2, Mt. Kumgang at a distance, and Part 3, “Good bye again,” which deals with Mt.

In particular, curiosity is growing about how their visit has been possible. In some cases, North Korea invited them to promote North Korea's tourist attractions, especially Mt. Kumgang, to South Korea and the world. It is said that there is North Korea's aim of aiming to resume dialogue and tourism amid tensions. However, PD Kim Jong-il, the producer of the SBS Inter-Korean Exchange Cooperation Group, said, “The tour course and schedule have been discussed with a travel agency called 'Taekwondo Road Tour.' Taekwondo Road Tour CEO Chung Soon-cheon emphasized that "the North Koreans accepted the schedule proposed by the travel agency," and "simple tourism without political purpose."

Americans are not able to travel to North Korea because of an administrative ban after the Wimby incident. South Koreans can only be invited by North Korea and approved by the Ministry of Unification. Kim Jong-il said, "We had a similar project in the past year, but at that time, our travel agency led us to fail." A South Korean travel agency tried to arrange foreign tourists to North Korea, but it failed. However, foreign travel agencies that specialize in tourism in North Korea can travel to North Korea. In Europe and China, there are many travel agencies that deal with foreigners' travel products, and there are many foreign tourists when Sam Hammington visits tourist sites. Sam's visit to North Korea was much easier because it was a foreign tourist's product through a foreign travel agency.

Sam Hammington's Pace North, part 2 and 3, which will briefly explore North Korea, will be aired continuously from 11:10 pm on Friday the 13th.
