In front of Christmas, turkey-kun is being actively produced in Takigami Town, Hokkaido, on the Okhotsk Sea side.

In Takigami Town, turkey has been produced for over 30 years, and every year when Christmas approaches, 6 producers are busy making kuns.

The turkey is made by soaking it in a special sauce made of natural salt and herbs for about two weeks, tying it with a string so that it doesn't collapse, and smoking it with smoke that burns cherry wood chips for about 3 hours. After the turkey turns scented with a fragrant scent, the producers finish it with a gas burner and shine it.

It is said that 80% of the 1800 items that are popular every year and are scheduled to be sold are already reserved.

Mr. Wataru Sasaki, head of the Takigami-Town Turkey Production Association, said, “I have already made delicious kun. I want to have fun with my family and friends.”

The production of turkey is done until the middle of this month, and it will be shipped nationwide in time for Christmas.
