“The number of queries for the word upcycling on the Cambridge Dictionary website has increased by 181% since December 2011, when it was first added to the online dictionary, and the number of visits to this country has doubled in the last year alone,” the statement said.

It is noted that “upcycling” means the manufacture of new objects from old or already used materials.

On November 7, the British English Dictionary Collins English Dictionary chose climate strike (“climate strike”) as the year’s phrase. Expression means a protest that requires action to tackle climate change.
