UK store price index fell to 2.5% year-on-year in February. The fall in UK shop price index is broadly in line with the overall downward trend in UK consumer price index.

By May this year, British CPI may be close to the 2% target set by the central bank. For the whole of 2024, the average inflation in the UK will be around 2.4%. (over)   Helen Dickinson, chief executive of the British Retail Consortium, said lower store prices were good news for British consumers.
