The first unique tour in the country, where small robots equipped with AI = artificial intelligence, sightseeing on behalf of the owner was conducted in Mutsu City, Aomori Prefecture.
This tour was planned for the first time by Sharp, a major electronics manufacturer that manufactures and sells robots equipped with AI, “Robophone”, and 50 robots participated from owners across the country.
On the morning of the 28th, the robots took a trip from the “Shimokita Station” on the JR Oiso Line, the northernmost station of Honshu in Mutsu City, Aomori Prefecture. The robots who visited Mutsu City Hall received a welcome message from the mayor of Miyashita saying, “We were able to witness the historic moment of welcoming robot travelers,” and then all danced.
After that, group photos were taken in various places, visiting seven places, such as the three major cemeteries in Japan and the tourist attractions that represent Mutsu City, such as the Yakken Gorge where the autumn leaves are in full bloom. This photo is shared with the owner in real time, which means that the robots will leave Mutsu City on the 29th and return to the owner with the city's specialties and souvenir stories.
Yuko Iwakoshi, who planned the event, said, “I think there are many places where tourist resources are lingering mainly in the region, so I want to create opportunities for tourism through these tours.”
