Wild boar was found dead in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. As a result of the inspection, infection to swine cholera was confirmed. It is the first time in the Kanto region that wild boars have been confirmed to be infected, and the prefecture requires pig farms to thoroughly disinfect them.

This month, Saitama Prefecture was confirmed to be infected with swine cholera one after another at the pig farms in Chichibu City and the neighboring Ogano Town.

Under such circumstances, on the afternoon of this month, a female wild boar with a length of about 1 meter was found in Chichibu City's residential site.

The wild boar died and was examined by a national institution. On the 24th, infection with swine cholera was confirmed.

It is the first time in the Kanto region that swine cholera infection has been confirmed in wild boars.

The wild boar was found about 3 kilometers north of the pig farm in Chichibu City, where infection with swine fever was confirmed on the 13th of this month.

In addition to investigating the route of infection, the prefecture continues to investigate whether wild boar is captured in the surrounding forests and whether the infection has spread.
