Russian Foreign Minister thanked China for sending observers to the Russian presidential elections. Polling stations for voting were opened at the Russian foreign missions in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang and Hong Kong.
Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election as president of Russia. The election took place under conditions of “harsh external pressure from the West,” the Russian Foreign Minister said. He added that “nothing prevented the free and record-breaking expression of the will of Russian voters”
