A 14-year-old boy drowned in a Wiesbaden swimming pool. Now the police are investigating whether the accompanying teachers fulfilled their duty of supervision.

A model project has been running in WiesBaden since 2020 to prevent such incidents. Sensors and cameras in the swimming pool are to use artificial intelligence to rescue a possible drowning person by detecting unnatural movement patterns and sounding the alarm. The pool in the training hall has not yet been equipped with the appropriate technology, in contrast to the public pool.
