The first Tarawih prayer was held in Al-Aqsa Mosque amid strict Israeli security measures. Jerusalemites and residents of the interior were able to enter the mosque to pray under restrictions and security measures imposed by the occupation forces.

The occupation security checkpoints prevented young worshipers from entering to pray, while allowing women and men over 40 years of age to enter. The prayers were held on the first night of the holy month of Ramadan at the mosque in Jerusalem's Old City, under exceptional circumstances.
