Manga will be adapted into live-action by a Marvel director. It will be written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, behind the hit Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Created in 1999, the manga tells the story of a young ninja who dreams of becoming Hokage, the leader of his ninja village. It was serialized in the Japanese weekly magazine Weekly Shonen Jump until 2014, with over 250 million copies sold worldwide. Its anime adaptation has more than 700 episodes between 2002 and 2017.
