A German census revealed that the number of foreign doctors doubled over the past decade, exceeding 63,000 doctors. Syrians constitute the largest group of foreign Doctors working in Germany, followed by Romanians, then Austrians.

This number does not include naturalized citizens, but rather includes those who have equated their certificates and are residents of Germany. Despite what Germany is known for its excellence and leadership in the field of medicine and therapeutics, its health system is suffering from a scarcity of German doctors.
