The statistics showed that Syrians constitute the largest group of foreign doctors working in Germany, with 6,120 doctors, followed by Romanians, then Austrians. This number does not include naturalized citizens, but rather includes those who have equated their certificates and are residents of Germany.

Despite what Germany is known for its excellence and leadership in the field of medicine and therapeutics, its health system is suffering from a scarcity of German doctors, as recent years have witnessed a clear reluctance from the field by them, in exchange for an increase in the number of foreign doctors.

The Shabakat program (3/5/2024) monitored some of the interaction of tweeters with the increase in the number of foreign doctors in Germany, especially Syrians, including what Hossam wrote: “When we were in Syria and we heard a doctor coming from Germany, we ran to him... now (now) when we are looking around Where can we find a Syrian doctor who understands us and we understand him?

As for Ali Zaid, he tweeted, “6,100, and a similar number are naturalized, and twice as many are studying medicine in universities and did not graduate. And (within) 5 years, the number will be 4 times.”

Meanwhile, Lea Ahmed wrote: “It is not forbidden for all these doctors to leave our country. We do not benefit from them or their expertise. This is what the war did. It lost us and our country.”

As for Heba Ali, she said, “Not only is the language an obstacle... bureaucracy and the long wait for the papers to go through, for you to find a place, and for a job, are all things that delay employment.”
