Five holes were drilled into the trunk of an oak tree in the Upper Palatinate. The tree died and had to be cut down.

The extent of the damage still needs to be determined. The as yet unknown perpetrators had probably drilled the holes over the last month. The damage is estimated at around 3,000 euros (about £2,000) The tree was found in a field near the town of Neustadt in the state of Bavaria. It is believed that the tree was poisoned by an unknown person.
