Performances of the traditional performing art Bunraku that use animation as the background begin overseas. The background art for the animation was created by Kazuo Oga, an animation art director known for films such as ''My Neighbor Totoro'' and ''Princess Mononoke'' The performance will be held at Yurakucho Yomiuri Hall in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo until March 29th.

According to the National Theater, using animation footage will make it easier to perform overseas as it will save the time and cost of transporting the props.
