Meitetsu Tourism Service fraudulently received employment adjustment subsidy and returned over 2.9 billion yen. Fraudulent receipt of benefits was discovered at a total of 26 branches, including the Toyama branch and the Hokuriku branch in Kanazawa City.
Employees created false documents claiming that they had been absent from work due to the coronavirus, when in fact they were working. The company received the full amount of the subsidy received in the two years from April 2020, as well as penalties and late fees.
