Matsue's "Tsubaki-dera" Early-blooming camellias decorate the grounds in winter. Mangan-ji Temple in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, has over 400 camellia species.

Chief priest Noriyoshi Kaneda has grown over 15 years through grafting, etc., and the locals call it ``T Subaki-Dera''. Currently, about 30 early-blowing varieties are blooming at Manganji Temple.
