Masao Akahori, who was found not guilty in the retrial of the Shimada incident 70 years ago, dies at the age of 94. In the so-called "Shimada Incident" in which a 6-year-old girl was murdered in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture, the death penalty was confirmed and then a retrial = acquittal in a new trial.
He was the fourth person since the war to be found innocent after a ret trial in a case in which the death sentence had been confirmed.
