KyoAni Incident Bereaved Family and Employees Request Uji City to install a Monument to Communicate the Incident. The aim is to have the monument installed by July, marking five years since the incident.
The design proposal for the monument was designed by the creators of Kyoto Animation and depicts 36 birds flapping their wings, representing the 36 people who died. The Kyoto District Court sentenced Shinji Aoba, who was charged with murder and other crimes, in the arson attack on Kyoto Animation's first studio in Fushimi Ward.
