Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa dies at 88. He conducted the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the Boston Symphony, throughout a long career.

Ozawa, one of the most important Japanese figures in classical music, died on the 6th at his residence in Tokyo. The directed the Tokyo Philharmonic for more than 30 years. He was also the conductor of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra for over a decade. He is survived by his wife, three children and six grandchildren. He leaves behind a wife and a son.
