In the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, the traditional Higan Shishi ceremony was held in Aizuwakamatsu City to pray for a good harvest and safety for the family. The festival, which has continued in the region since the Edo period, is said to have originated from a legend that the disease during the equinox period was cured by dedicating a lion dance.

The three dancers wear dazzling kimonos of white, red, and yellow, and line up in a line or form a circle.
