In the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, the traditional Higan Shishi ceremony was held in Aizuwakamatsu City to pray for a good harvest and the safety of one's family.

The ``Aizu Higan Shishi'' festival, which has continued in the Aizu region since the Edo period, is said to have originated from a legend that the disease during the equinox period was cured by dedicating a lion dance, and people from the local preservation society held it as a festival to ensure a good harvest and the safety of the family. We do this in various places to pray for you.

Unfortunately, on the 20th, the midday of the equinox, the weather was raining and sleeting, so the event was moved from outdoors to Tsuruga Castle in Aizuwakamatsu City, one of the venues, inside a nearby building.

The three dancers wear dazzling kimonos of white, red, and yellow, and line up in a line or form a circle, performing harmonious dances to the beat of flutes and drums. I was there.

The approximately 100 people who visited the venue, including locals and tourists, gave a big round of applause when one of the highlights was a performance in which dancers quickly passed through a large bow.

A man from Koriyama City said, ``I saw it for the first time, and I was surprised at how powerful it was.I want to come see it again.''
