Fu Moujia and Fu Mouyi were sentenced by the Hainan Provincial No. 6 Intermediate People's Court to six months' imprisonment and one year's probation for illegal hunting.
The two said they accepted the verdict and would not appeal. Wild boar is listed in the "List of Terrestrial Wild Animals Protected by the State as Beneficial or with Important Economic and Scientific Research Value", which is a national "three haves" protected animal. The macaques hunted by Fu were released by the Lugeling Branch of the Hainsan Rainforest National Park Administration to the surrounding primeval forest.
