A female shark "sand tiger" gave birth to a child on May 5. The baby born is a female with a body length of more than 7 cm and weighs about 90 kg.

The sand tiger shark is a large shark that lives in the waters near Japan and grows to a total length of about 5 meters. It is considered to be at high risk of extinction in the wild in the near future according to the Ministry of the Environment's Red List of Marine Organisms. It has been successfully bred in only five aquariums in the world due to the difficulty of fertilization itself.
