Approximately 38,000 works were submitted at the NHK National Haiku Contest, and 3 haiku won the grand prize. This competition, now in its 25th year, is held every year by NHK and NHK Gakuen.

The tournament will be broadcast on E-Tele from 2:30 pm on April 28th. The winning poem, The Sun is an Ordinary Star Fuki no Tau, was written by Naoya Sato (38) from Kanagawa Prefecture.
