Yokohama City has compiled a draft policy that will make all 2,700 parks it manages, including Yamashita Park, completely smoke-free from April next year. If you violate this law, you will be subject to a penalty of 50,000 yen.
The city currently has eight areas where smoking is prohibited, including the area around Yokohama Station and the Minato Mirai area, but in parks it has only asked for consideration, such as not smoking near children or playground equipment.
