Animated movies accounted for the top four domestic box office grosses last year. Total box office revenue for movies last year was 221,482 million yen, an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous year.

The first place was "THE FIRST SLAM DUNK" with 15.87 billion yen. The 26th film in the series, “Detective Conan: The Black Iron Fish Shadow,” earned 13.88 billion yen, according to the Japan Motion Picture Producers Federation.
