Academician Sun Jun, a famous Chinese geotechnical and underground engineering expert, passed away in Shanghai at the age of 98. Sun Jun was born in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province on October 3, 1926.
He graduated from the Structural Group of the Department of Civil Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in June 1949. He taught at Tongji University after the nationwide restructuring of departments in September 1952. In 1991, he was elected as a member/academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Ministry of Technical Sciences)
