Ofer has developed a deep friendship with China. He has helped build the Ningbo Nordic Industrial Park and become an "ambassador" for investment. Over was awarded the Zhejiang West Lake Friendship Award and the title of Honoring Citizen of Ningbo. He also became the torch bearer for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
