China News Service, Ningbo, February 14 (Reporter Lin Bo) "This will be the first batch of Atlantic salmon we produce for the Chinese market. This batch of fish is about 1,000 tons and the largest one is over 6 kilograms." Recently, Ove Nodland, a Norwegian honorary citizen of Ningbo and chairman of Nodik Aquatic Products (Ningbo) Co., Ltd., is busy at the Nordic (China) in Huangwantang, Gaotangdao Township, Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province The Salmon RAS land-based farm understands the growth status of this batch of salmon.

Atlantic salmon is known as the "supreme fish" and is the best quality salmon. It is mainly distributed in nearby waters such as Norway.

After two years of careful cultivation and breeding, this batch of "salmon" produced in Xiangshan will "swim" to people's tables as soon as March.

During this Spring Festival, what Ofer is most concerned about is the realization of this "small goal".

Participate in Sino-foreign joint venture projects to convey the Norwegian concept of sustainable development; build the Ningbo Nordic Industrial Park and become an "ambassador" for investment; establish a Nordic (Chinese) salmon RAS land-based farm to allow locally produced Atlantic salmon to "swim" to the dining table... During his 30 years in China, Ofer has developed a deep friendship with China. In this land of entrepreneurship and innovation, he has continued to transform across borders, achieving "small goals" one after another, and writing his own story of struggle.

Over's relationship with China can be traced back to 1994. At that time, he had a joint venture project in Sichuan, and he followed the project to work in China.

"This is my first time to come to China. I am involved in the field of environmental protection, mainly bringing Norwegian green technology." Over told reporters. Later, with the development of the project, he and his family moved to Shanghai and lived there. Two years.

After living in China for four years, Ofer, who missed his hometown, returned to Norway.

"I adjusted in Norway for 6 months. I thought China was very interesting and had many friends, so I decided to return to China." Over recalled that after leaving China, he missed the people and things there, and finally decided to "Return" to China, start a second business, and look for a "landing" city.

In 1999, Ofer came to Ningbo for the first time. His first impression was that the city was beautiful and the locals were friendly.

"The most important thing is that the local government is willing to listen to the opinions of a person from afar." Ofer said that the local government departments are very willing to listen to the ideas of enterprises and introduced to him the urban development plan, especially the plan to build Hangzhou Bay Plans for a sea-crossing bridge.

"In fact, this bridge was built more than ten years ago. From here, I can see the government's ability to implement its promises." Ofer said frankly that as a businessman, he attaches great importance to credibility, which has also contributed to his success in Ningbo. The foundation was laid for investment and entrepreneurship.

In 2002, with the help of Ofer, Ningbo Nordic Industrial Park was established, becoming a bridge and efficient investment place for companies from Norway and even Nordic countries to invest in China.

The manufacturing company founded by Over was also located here.

In the following 20 years, OFU resonated with urban development, not only promoting the introduction of foreign businessmen, but also greatly promoting exchanges and visits between Ningbo and Northern Europe. Over also became the torch bearer for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in Ningbo, and was awarded the Ningbo Camellia Award, Zhejiang West Lake Friendship Award, and the title of "Ningbo Honorary Citizen."

In 2013, Ningbo Nordic Industrial Park became saturated. When his career entered a stable period, Over, who was wary of danger in peacetime, was thinking about exploring new fields.

At that time, he, who loved food, noticed that Atlantic salmon was very delicious and loved by the Chinese people.

"But because it is mainly produced in the waters near Norway, the cumbersome transportation process and high preservation costs make it difficult for the Chinese people to taste the delicious food quickly." After discovering new business opportunities, Over said bluntly that he came up with the idea of cultivating Atlantic salmon in China. , and he was thinking about how to achieve this "small goal".

"This is a very complex project." Ofer said that the realization of the "small goal" needs to face difficulties such as trust in government-enterprise cooperation, maturity of breeding technology, completeness of breeding equipment, and coverage of breeding talents, but he chose a Once conquered.

Starting in 2022, the company has successively introduced multiple batches of fish eggs from Iceland into Xiangshan and cultivated them using the world's advanced circulating aquaculture model.

Recently, reporters walked into the RAS7 breeding pond of the farm and saw strong Atlantic salmon "flying" freely in the pond.

"They are very fast and it is difficult to catch them with nets." According to Alejandro Millar, the company's fish health manager, although Atlantic salmon grow in seawater and migrate to freshwater to reproduce, they have relatively high requirements on water quality and water temperature. Two years of farming experience have proven that, with the support of the RAS farming system and rich farming experience, the water quality and environment in the Xiangshan coastal area are very suitable for land-based farming of Atlantic salmon.

"The total investment in the first phase of our project has exceeded 75 million euros." Over said, now, here, breeding talents from all over the world have gathered, they are striving for a goal, and they also feel the infinite possibilities of China's development in the struggle. .

The beaded island transportation network, the constantly updated urban appearance, and the gradually optimized business environment... Over the past thirty years of investing and entrepreneurship in China, Over has also witnessed the development and changes of the city.

2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Norway, and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of sister cities between Ningbo and Stavanger, Norway.

"There are many people and many things here that make me linger. The most important thing is that I love this city and hope that everyone can be happy and healthy in the new year!" As a foreign businessman, Ofer also used his own development as an example. Introduce and recommend China to friends around the world, and hope that China will get better and better. (over)
