The head of the department of banking regulation and analytics of the Bank of Russia, Alexander Danilov, said that the financial regulator doubts the veracity of banks’ statements about the unprofitability of preferential mortgages for them. According to him, in such calculations by financial institutions “there is an element of deceit” “There is some element, this is my value judgment, of cunning on their part in these calculations,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

He noted that the profitability of the relevant programs before the recent tightening by the government was very high.
