According to the still unofficial results, some 41% of the 61 million Iranian voters took part in the double vote on March 1. In Tehran, capital of Iran, where the battle is more political, participation was only 24% according to a press agency close to the conservatives.

This is one of the lowest rates since the victory of the Islamic Revolution 45 years ago. The conservatives and ultra-conservatives are thus assured of controlling the next Parliament and the Assembly of Experts after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death.
