Iran's Supreme Leader threatens Israel after attack on its consulate in Syria. Tehran's hardening tone raises fears of a new escalation in the region.
We do not yet know whether Tehran will intervene directly against Israel or make its allies act. The Lebanese Hezbollah, the Shiite militias in Iraq or the Houthis in Yemen, who have increased their actions against Israel. Some conservatives suggest that Tehran could strike targets in Israel itself, in reaction to the attack on the Iranian consulate. The latter left around ten dead, including two important military commanders responsible for operations.
