Airports and airlines responded to the tight air tickets to Hainan Islands: deploying more capacity. During the 2024 Spring Festival Golden Week (February 10-17), Sanya Phoenix International Airport plans to carry out 2,974 flights and is expected to transport more than 630,000 passengers.
Currently, the airport has nearly 380 daily flights, including about 127 wide-body aircraft, and the average daily passenger throughput has reached about 81,000. Some aircraft slots at Sanya Airport are under maintenance, making it difficult to further increase capacity.
