China News Service, Haikou, February 15 (Reporters Wang Xiaobin, Zhang Yue and Fu Yuqun) It is halfway through the Spring Festival holiday, and the passenger flow out of Hainan has reached its peak. In response to the current shortage of air tickets to Hainan's outlying islands, airports, airlines and other parties have stated that they will allocate more transport capacity to ensure a smooth return journey for passengers leaving the island.

As a tropical coastal resort city, Sanya is still dominated by tourists during the Spring Festival this year. During the 2024 Spring Festival Golden Week (February 10-17), Sanya Phoenix International Airport (hereinafter referred to as "Sanya Airport") plans to carry out 2,974 flights and is expected to transport more than 630,000 passengers. Currently, the airport has nearly 380 daily flights, including about 127 wide-body aircraft, and the average daily passenger throughput has reached about 81,000.

In order to meet the travel needs of passengers during the Spring Festival travel period, Sanya Airport actively coordinated with airlines to increase the capacity of routes to key passenger source areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Kunming, Xi'an, and Chongqing. China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Air China, Sichuan Airlines has replaced Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Airbus 350 and other wide-body aircraft to fly Sanya route.

It is understood that some aircraft slots at Sanya Airport are under maintenance, making it difficult to further increase capacity. For this reason, airlines recommend that passengers who have not purchased tickets in advance avoid direct flights from Sanya to popular cities. Passengers can also choose to depart from Haikou or Boao and transfer to nearby cities.

Hainan Airlines stated that during the peak return period from the fifth to the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, Hainan Airlines plans to arrange 110 outbound flights in Hainan every day, including 80 flights from Haikou and 27 flights from Sanya; at the same time, it will deploy sufficient wide-body aircraft capacity to ensure popular departures. Island routes, wide-body aircraft route destinations cover Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Harbin and other hot cities, accounting for 31% of the total outbound flights.
