The CNIL confirmed having received complaints precisely denouncing "the lack of information for the people concerned and the installation of two cameras in classrooms".
The university specifies that it "never had either the wish or the interest to film anything other than the exits of the establishment" and that these cameras had not yet been "put into service".
In 2019, the CNIL recalled that, “except in exceptional circumstances”, a video surveillance system cannot place students or employees “under systematic and continuous surveillance”.
It also called on the establishments concerned to "only film the accesses and circulation areas".
