Heilbronn (dpa / lsw) - Young inventors from all over Baden-Württemberg are hoping for prizes in the “Jugend forscht” competition with their ideas this year too.

When the winners are chosen on Wednesday (4 p.m.) in Heilbronn, they only cheer on the screen.

Because the corona pandemic is a novelty: For the first time, the participants will present their projects online over three days.

69 projects are competing in the fields of work, biology, chemistry, geo and spatial sciences, mathematics / computer science, physics and technology - a record in the national history of the competition.

The more than 100 young researchers had previously qualified for the nationwide final round in nine regional competitions.

In the state competition there is prize money of up to 250 euros for the award-winning projects.

The eight best ideas will compete in the national finals at the end of May.

“Jugend forscht” is Europe's largest competition for young talent in mathematics, natural sciences and technology.

This year's competition is the 56th at state level, last year no projects were awarded due to Corona.
