China News Service, Beijing, March 19 (Reporter Yan Xiaohong) The Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization initiated by China held the China Carbon Peak Carbon Neutrality Achievement Release and Seminar in Beijing on the 18th.

The conference released the research results of China's carbon peak by 2030, carbon neutrality by 2060, energy and power development plan in 2030, and outlook for 2060. It is the first time in China to propose a systematic plan to achieve carbon emission reduction targets through the construction of China's Energy Internet.

This conference attracted representatives from relevant government departments, enterprises, institutions, and universities to jointly discuss my country's carbon peak and carbon neutral realization path, and contribute wisdom and strength to promoting climate environmental governance and realizing a comprehensive green transformation of the economy.

At the meeting, Liu Zhenya, Chairman of the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization and Chairman of the China Electricity Council, delivered a speech and delivered a keynote speech. The Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Espinosa and China’s Special Envoy for Climate Change Xie Zhenhua delivered a video speech.

In September 2020, at the 75th United Nations General Assembly, China proposed a carbon peak by 2030 and a carbon neutral goal by 2060.

Based on long-term accumulation in the fields of clean development, grid interconnection, climate and environment, the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization has carried out in-depth research on China’s carbon emission reduction pathways and energy and power transition plans. The three research results of Dafeng Research Report, China Carbon Neutrality Research Report before 2060, and China Energy and Power Development Planning Research in 2030 and Prospects for 2060, propose UHV grids to lead the construction of China's energy Internet and accelerate energy development Clean substitution and energy consumption electric energy substitution ("two substitutions"), to achieve clean energy production and energy use electric energy ("double dominance"), energy and power development and carbon decoupling, economic and social development and carbon emissions decoupling ("double decoupling" ”)’S systematic emission reduction path and plan.

Liu Zhenya pointed out that facing the severe situation of large total carbon emissions and strong inertia of high-carbon development, it will take less than 10 years for China to achieve carbon peaks and another 30 years to achieve carbon neutrality. The task is very arduous.

The root of the carbon emission problem is the large-scale development and use of fossil energy. The fundamental solution is to transform the energy development mode, accelerate the promotion of clean replacement and electric energy replacement, and completely get rid of fossil energy dependence.

Building China's Energy Internet and accelerating the promotion of "two alternatives" is the fundamental way to achieve my country's carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

Liu Zhenya stated that China’s Energy Internet is essentially "smart grid + UHV grid + clean energy", a basic platform for the large-scale development, transmission and use of clean energy across the country, and a clean-led, electricity-centric, interconnected modern energy source. system.

The construction of the China Energy Internet will coordinate the development and emission reduction, accelerate the large-scale development and consumption of clean energy and the widespread use of electric energy, and comprehensively and deeply replace fossil energy such as coal, oil and gas in all aspects of energy production and consumption, and in all fields of carbon emissions. Accelerate the carbon emission reduction of the whole society through the zero-carbon revolution of the energy system, and achieve my country's carbon peak and carbon neutral goals.

The research report issued by the cooperative organization proposes that UHV will lead the construction of China’s energy Internet and promote China’s carbon emission reduction in three stages: the first stage is to reach the peak as soon as possible before 2030, and electricity will be the first to reach the peak of carbon in 2025. 100 million tons, energy and the whole society will reach the peak of carbon in 2028, with peaks of 10.2 billion and 10.9 billion tons respectively; the second stage is to accelerate decarbonization from 2030 to 2050, and achieve near-zero emissions from electricity in 2050, and carbon emissions from energy and society as a whole Respectively to 1.8 billion and 1.4 billion tons, a decrease of 80% and 90% from the peak; the third stage is full neutralization from 2050 to 2060, and strive to achieve net zero carbon emissions in the whole society around 2055 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 aims.

The report also proposes that the construction of China's Energy Internet will have a marginal cost of carbon emission reduction of about 260 yuan/ton for the whole society, which is far lower than other global emission reduction plans of about 700 yuan/ton.

Espinosa said that we need a clear road map to guide us towards a future of net zero emissions and to guide the world economy towards a green and sustainable recovery and growth.

The research results released at this conference not only provide a set of comprehensive, quantifiable and practical solutions for China's response to climate change, but also provide a reference for other countries in the world to explore new ways to reduce carbon emissions.

Xie Zhenhua said that the most important task for achieving the carbon peak and carbon neutral goal is to realize the low-carbon transformation of the energy system, combining the carbon peak and carbon neutral goals with the goals of economic and social development, ecological environmental protection and energy revolution. To achieve high-quality coordinated development of green, low-carbon, and recycling.

The construction of the Energy Internet is an important measure to accelerate the deep decarbonization of the energy system. The research results of the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization will play an important role in the low-carbon transition and carbon neutrality of my country and the world.

As the first international organization in the energy field initiated by my country, the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization has reached 1,157 members in the five years since its establishment, involving 132 countries. The institution has established a cooperative relationship, released more than 50 research results, sang the "Voice of China" in the fields of energy, environment, economy, and society, and promoted the "China Initiative" as a global action.
