According to him, the issue of joint production and the possibility of opening a plant in Iran or in Russia depends on how successfully the Iranian side will be able to supply its cars to the Russian market, as well as on how Iranian models will be accepted by the Russians.

“After that, we will already consider investments in joint production and development of our auto market in Russia,” RIA Novosti quotes him.

The minister also added that for export, the Iranian side must obtain appropriate licenses from the relevant departments in Russia, in addition, approval from the Russian state standard is required for cars.

Earlier, the Izvestia newspaper, citing the Avtostat analytical agency, reported that in 2022, Russians bought 121.8 thousand new cars of Chinese brands, which is 7% more compared to 2021.
