The number of online orders during the ten days of Black Friday increased by 6% in 2022 compared to the previous year in France, according to a study by the consumer panel Fox Intelligence by NielsenIQ transmitted to AFP on Friday.

On the other hand, on the single day of Friday November 25, these orders fell by 2% compared to 2021, reports the study again.

Annual promotional meeting traditionally set the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday now extends - for some brands and platforms - over nearly ten days and started for Amazon this year on November 18.

“Double-digit growth” for Amazon France

"We had the biggest Black Friday week we've ever had on Amazon.fr", with "double-digit growth" compared to last year, the general manager of AFP told AFP. Amazon France, Frederic Duval.

For the manager, this enthusiasm for e-commerce is explained by the fact that “the French are going through a difficult period, with the rise in the cost of energy and inflation” and that “moving is expensive”.

The categories that sold best in 2022: kitchen and home, toys and high tech, according to Amazon France.

The general manager highlighted the success of the Amazon store "Made in France" this year, which recorded "34% more than the previous year on Black Friday Week".

"The most important days of the year"

At Cdiscount, 10% of overall Black Friday sales relate to responsible products such as "more repairable telephones or TVs, more energy-efficient washing machines, refurbished telephones, ovens Made In France", affirmed with the AFP the online sales platform.

In France, "Black Friday and the following weekend are the most important days of the year in e-commerce", notes Fox Intelligence by NielsenIQ, which is based on anonymized electronic receipts from millions of consumers in the world to collect its data.

Toys, high tech, major household appliances and beauty are the four categories of goods that have seen the strongest growth during this commercial event in 2022, the panel finds.
