The Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, said that the ministry is seeking to cooperate with its partners from the relevant federal and local tourism authorities, airlines and the World Tourism Organization, to implement 25 tourism initiatives and policies, through which it aims to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the gross domestic product of the national economy to 450. Bin Touq added, during the activities of the ninth session of the "Sharjah International Travel and Tourism Forum 2022", yesterday, which was organized by the Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, that the tourism initiatives launched by the state to recover from the Corona pandemic, played a prominent role in promoting investments in the travel, aviation, hotel and entertainment sectors, as well as It boosted tourism revenues, by attracting unprecedented numbers of tourists, and a strong recovery for the sector in general.

He pointed out that the UAE has made great strides in developing tourism infrastructure and diversifying tourist destinations, which was reinforced by the launch of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the National Strategy for Tourism 2031, which aims to raise the status of the UAE as the best identity. tourism around the world, and to consolidate its position as a leading tourist destination, based on tourism diversity.

He stated that the country's airports received more than 20 million passengers during the first quarter of this year, compared to eight million tourists during the same period last year.

Bin Touq stated that the country ranked first in the Middle East, and 25th in the world in global tourism competitiveness indicators for the year 2021, and it also ranked 11th in the world among the top tourist destinations attracting visitors for the year 2020, while for 10 years it maintained its position among the top 12 destinations. In the world, it is able to attract more than 10 million visitors annually, indicating that the total contribution of tourism to the gross domestic product of the national economy amounted to 177 billion dirhams.
