is a friendly economic time.

Samyang Foods is raising the price of sweets?

<Reporter>

Yes, now it is time to reduce the number of snacks given to children.

Confectionery companies are raising prices one after another due to the increase in raw material prices. Samyang Foods also decided to raise the price of sweets by 15.3% from next month.

The sweets from Samyang Food are Satobap, Jjanggu, and Popeye.

Orion raises its price for the first time in 9 years.

Same as Samyang, we decided to raise the price of 16 products by an average of 15.8% from the next month. If this happens, a box of 12 Choco Pies will rise from 4,800 won to 5,400 won.

Kobuk and Poca chips also jump from 1,500 won to 1,700 won.

Previously, Nongshim also raised the factory price of 23 products, including shrimp crackers and honey pretzels, by an average of 5.7% from the 15th.

Samyang Foods also produces ramen.

But the price of ramen won't go up right now?

<Reporter>

Yes, there are a lot of cases where ramen companies produce sweets, but when the price is raised, they often put it together like Nongshim.

However, Samyang decided to keep the price of ramen as it is for the time being.

Right now, the price of flour, palm oil, and all the ingredients used in ramen have gone up.

From Nongshim to Paldo and Ottogi, other ramen companies are raising their raises because they can't stand it any longer.

However, it seems that only Samyang is not raising prices, and there are many reasons for this slack.

Samyang's filial piety, Buldak-bokkeummyeon, sells well overseas.

Exports account for 70% of Samyang's ramen sales.

But these days, the won-dollar exchange rate has risen so much that there is no need to rush to raise the domestic price yet, as foreign exchange gains are generated from exports.

The price of cabbage seems to have gone up too much these days.

<Reporter>

Yes, due to heavy rain and heat in the summer and typhoon Hinnamno, the price of cabbage has become too expensive.

The retail price of a single cabbage is close to 10,000 won these days.

When I looked at how much a bag can be bought for online shopping, it was quite noticeable when the price was in the upper half of 10,000 won and over 20,000 won.

As the prices of other kimchi ingredients are also rising, it costs twice as much to make kimchi as compared to normal years.

I just wanted to buy packaged kimchi, so I looked it up in a grocery app, and it was still sold out, but it says that it is difficult to stock for the time being due to poor yields.

In this case, the price of packaged kimchi will inevitably rise.

CJ has increased the price of bibigo kimchi on average by 11% since the 15th.

From the 1st of next month, Daesang also raises the price of kimchi at Jonggajip by an average of 9.8%.

From the perspective of large marts, it seems that it is a little urgent to secure the quantity of cabbage right now.

<Reporter>

Yes, right now, I can't buy it because it doesn't even cost more than 10,000 won for a single bag. In November and December, large marts are rushing to secure additional production areas ahead of the Kimchi season.

In addition to the two places that had previously supplied cabbage, one hypermarket has increased one more. The additional supplier will supply 30% of the total amount of cabbage.

Another large mart also secured 40% more than in the previous year.

As the crops in the highlands of Maebongsan Mountain, which had previously been receiving most of the supply, were not good, we added more contracted areas with other regions.

In addition, in consideration of the sharp rise in the price of cabbage, the pre-order sales of pickled cabbage will also start the day after the next year, about a month earlier than usual.

We sell 20 kg of pickled cabbage for around 40,000 won, but we lowered the price to half the market price by discussing 200 tons of cabbage in advance.

While cabbage prices are soaring, there are also optimistic outlooks.

Usually, cabbages are harvested after growing for about 2-3 months, but since the weather conditions are not bad in September, it is explained that the harvest may increase in November, the season of kimchi.
