Prime Minister Kishida has announced a policy to expand the target area of the prefectural discount to the whole country from next month if the improvement of the infection situation of the new corona can be confirmed.

The government intends to consider ways to prevent tourists from concentrating on holidays and then use it as an alternative to “Go To Travel” to stimulate tourism demand.

The prefectural discount, which allows you to receive coupons that can be used to discount travel prices and purchase souvenirs, is intended for travel within the prefecture where you currently live or within a block that divides the whole country into six, and the national government pays the necessary expenses. I am supporting.

Regarding this, Prime Minister Kishida announced at a press conference on the 15th that if the improvement of the infection situation of the new corona can be confirmed, the target area of the prefectural discount will be expanded to the whole country from the first half of next month.

For this reason, we have decided to extend the application period of the prefectural discount until the end of this month.

In expanding, we are also considering introducing measures to prevent tourists from concentrating on holidays as an infection control measure.

It is up to the prefectures to decide whether or not to actually apply the prefectural discount, and even if the government decides to spread it nationwide, it may exclude prefectures where the spread of the new corona is increasing. I can do it.

While there are cautious opinions about the resumption of "Go To Travel," which is applied uniformly nationwide, the government wants to stimulate tourism demand by expanding the "Prefectural Citizens' Discount," which can be decided according to the actual conditions of the region.
