Hokuriku Shinkansen opens today between Kanazawa and Tsuruga; “Hokuiku Support Discount” also begins. The time between Fukui and Tokyo will be 2 hours 51 minutes and 30 minutes at the shortest.
With this extension, the time between Kanzawa and Osaka will be two hours 9 minutes and 20 minutes. There is no prospect that construction will begin on the further extension from Tsuruga to Osaka, due to costs estimated to exceed 2 trillion yen.
