The price of petrol in Germany has recently continued to rise.

As the ADAC car club announced on Tuesday on request, a liter of Super E10 on Tuesday morning around 9.50 a.m. in Germany cost an average of 1.972 euros, a liter of diesel 2.014 euros.

That was a little more than on Whit Monday.

Anyone who had hoped that after Whitsun travel there could be some relaxation in fuel prices will be disappointed.

With the energy tax cut on June 1, gasoline prices in Germany had fallen significantly, albeit not quite as much as a full pass-on of the tax cut would have suggested.

The economics Monika Schnitzer spoke of a "not complete, but clear transmission".

However, prices had been raised noticeably immediately before the tax cut.

And the day after the tax cut, Thursday last week, prices had risen again.

Just in time for tourist traffic on the Pentecost weekend, petrol became even more expensive.

From Pentecost Sunday to Monday, prices largely stagnated before picking up again slightly on Tuesday.

This is shown by a comparison by the ADAC of the average prices at more than 14,000 petrol stations at 9.50 a.m.

In the course of the day, the prices continue to fluctuate strongly, and there are sometimes significant differences from gas station to gas station.

ADAC: Far from passing on the tax cut

In part, the price fluctuations can be justified with the development of the price of crude oil and the dollar, said petrol specialist Christian Laberer from ADAC.

However, the level is still far too high.

And one is far from a complete transfer of the tax cut.

The price of crude oil had recently risen again, to around 118 dollars per barrel (159 liter barrel).

Before the tax cut, which was limited to three months, politicians such as Johannes Vogel from the FDP had said that consumers could look forward to fuel prices well below 2 euros.

At least the diesel price has been more than 2 euros at many filling stations in the morning since last Friday and then fluctuated during the course of the day.
