Construction companies are speeding up construction in Geomdan New Town, Incheon, which was controversial because they built high apartments that covered the royal tombs without being reviewed by the Cultural Heritage Administration.

It seems that if you move in before the court decision, the Cultural Heritage Administration decided that it would not be possible to demolish it or take other measures.

Construction started in 2019 and all the buildings have gone up, and now the final landscaping work is in full swing.

There is a World Heritage Site, Gimpo Jangneung, nearby, so if you wanted to build a building over 20 meters tall, you had to get a review from the Cultural Heritage Administration.

However, for this apartment, the building was raised without that process, and the Cultural Heritage Administration and the construction company are litigating.

[Field officials: (Prospective tenants) There are a lot of them.

Come here every weekend...

.

A lot of people asked if the construction was going on.]

Two of the three apartment complexes in question have already completed more than 90% of the work, and move-in is expected to begin in June at the earliest.

Whether this is possible depends on whether the Incheon Seo-gu Office, the local municipality, grants a permit for construction.

The Cultural Heritage Administration has sent an official letter not to grant permission until a court decision is made, but the ward office has not given a definitive answer, saying it is under review.

If the permit is granted and residents move in, it seems realistically impossible to move out or demolish the residents, even if the Cultural Heritage Administration wins the lawsuit.

[Kim Ye-rim / Attorney: You can say that it is a grand administrative execution, and you can tell it to be demolished.

But now, physically, if you keep holding on now, you can't enforce that on people anymore.

(After completion) In fact, it's almost impossible to cancel because I've already moved in.]

The Wangneung View Apartment, which caused a lot of social controversy, is more likely to end without any lessons learned.
