“

I irreversibly delegate my full powers to this presidential council

 ,” President

Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi

, a refugee in Saudi Arabia since 2015, said in a televised statement on the last day of peace talks in Saudi Arabia.

He also sacked Vice President Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar.

The new presidential council will be made up of eight members and will be led by Rashad al-Alimi, a former interior minister and adviser to the head of state.

This announcement is

"one of the most significant changes that has taken place within the anti-Houthi bloc since the beginning of the war

 ",

estimated on Twitter Peter Salisbury,

of the NGO

Crisis Group

, while affirming that the implementation of these new provisions "

will be complicated to say the least

 ".

For its part, Saudi Arabia has announced aid of three billion dollars to the country.

This change "

will open a new page

" hopes the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, quoted by the official Saudi press agency.

Since 2014, nearly 380,000 people have died in this war between pro-government forces, backed since 2015 by a military coalition led by neighboring Saudi Arabia, and Houthi rebels backed by Iran.

For the first time,

a two-month truce

was announced between the belligerents last Saturday.
