• Union ultimatum to Yolanda Díaz: either improve working conditions in the Ministry of Labor or they will go on strike

"On the verge of failure", this is how the

Labor and Social Security inspectors

in Spain describe their situation

due to the lack of resources they have to deal with, which is why next

Wednesday, March 30,

they are going to go on a

24-hour strike

to put pressure on the Ministry led by Yolanda Díaz.

This was announced this Wednesday in a joint statement by eight union organizations -

CCOO, CIG, CSIF, FESESS, Labor Inspectors Union, SISLASS, UGT and UPIT

-, which have also announced

protest rallies on March 22

to be held in all provinces between 12 and 12:30, prior to the 24-hour strike on the 30th for the entire workforce.

"After eight months of waiting, only the

Government's breach of the agreement adopted on July 7,

which included a series of

fundamental measures to save the functioning of the ITSS, is materialized

. The Labor and Social Security Inspection suffers an accumulation of

deficits that place your activity on the verge of failure

.

The necessary staff is lacking, the fundamental technical and material resources are lacking

.

There is no recognition of the effort of its staff and its collaboration, which is what has saved the operation of this institution in recent years, is in the process of running out," they threaten in the document.

The unions have denounced that the Government has no will to comply with the agreement and that it has caused the

"complete abandonment of the organization and its staff"

"

We cannot remain silent

when, on the one hand, the ministry and other bodies of this government extol the role of the ITSS and the work that this institution must address in the future and, on the other hand

, forget to reinforce it and despise the measures that had been agreed

as a first step to overcome the existing deficits in this body", they claim.

The unions admit that

the strike will negatively affect the population

, but say they have no other choice.

"There is no doubt that opening a conflict in the Labor and Social Security Inspection can have consequences that affect citizens. It is not in our will to promote an even greater deterioration of our body."

However, they warn that "it

would be much more dangerous to compromise and remain silent in

the face of political decisions that foster a situation that in its future development

"endangers the role and quality of the service that must be guaranteed"

from the Inspection.

This group, made up of more than

5,000 workers

, has been demanding more resources from the Ministry

for more than a year and a half

, which constantly announces new campaigns to prosecute fraud but does not reinforce the Inspection.
