Egypt-Palestinian political activist Ramy Shaath, detained in Egypt for more than two years, flew to Paris on Saturday, but according to his family, he was forced to give up his Egyptian nationality to secure his release.

” at the announcement. But she regretted that the authorities "
forced Ramy to renounce his Egyptian citizenship as a precondition for his release when this release should have been unconditional after two and a half years of unjust detention in inhuman conditions
".
Ramy Shaath
was arrested at his home in Cairo in July 2019. Head to prison for this activist, now in his fifties, behind bars.
Previously, Ramy Shaath lived in Palestine where his father was a senior leader of the Palestinian Authority and then in Egypt, his mother's country.
Figure of the Revolution
Engaged in the 2011 Revolution, he campaigned for democracy in the turmoil of Egyptian politics.
He also remains active in the pro-Palestinian movement calling for a boycott of Israel.
Positions that lead him to a 25 square meter cell where he is being held with about fifteen other prisoners.
Pre-trial detention, without trial on charges of "assisting a terrorist group" and "spreading false news" in a file to which its defenders do not even have access.
For two and a half years,

and human rights organizations have been asking for his release.
The French authorities assured to work in this direction.
